Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries. His practice crosses all ages and stages, along with most clinical disorders. Dell’s specialty areas of treatment and assesment include developmental and physical disabilities, behavioral challenges, adolescent inpatient services, deaf and hard of hearing, and cross-cultural work. At present, his practice has strong emphasis on First Nation Peoples and Northern communities, along with the impact of trauma across the life span. It is his understanding of development, attachment, resiliency, and the impact that life events experienced across the life span has on us that informs his approach to assessment and intervention. While trained in various treatment modalities, it is the understanding of relationship and of the role both affect and the midbrain has on the human condition that mostly guides his work with persons who access my services. At present, Dell is in full-time private practice. He is currently certified as a therapist and as a consultant in both EMDR and Brainspotting™. He is also a Brainspotting™ trainer and serves on both local and National boards.
